Yam Kofta

Yam Koftas are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. With all the spices koftas get a nice meaty flavor. It is almost impossible to figure out that it is made out of yam. With the yummy gravy, Yam koftas are a perfect combination with rice or roti.

Ingredients for Kofta :

  • 500 gms of Yam peeled and chopped in cubes
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp curry leaf powder (for recipe search Flax seed and curry leaves podi in mit-ahara.com)
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1½ tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 4 tbsp Beasn
  • Salt as per taste
  • Oil for frying

Ingredients for gravy:

  • 3 onions
  • 3 tomatoes
  • 2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Salt asper taste
  • ½ cup fresh cream

Procedure:

1. Boil Yam pieces for 15 – 20 minutes and drain. Then mash it.

2. Add all ingredients mentioned under kofta ingredients and mix.

3. Make lemon size balls and deep fry.

4. For gravy, grind onion and tomatoes and fry it in a pan till oil leaves from the side.

5. Then add ginger garlic paste, salt, chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, mix everything and cook for a few minutes and add water for the desired consistency.

6. Boil for a few minutes. Lastly add cooking cream or fresh cream. Simmer for two minutes.

7.Serve with hot rice or roti. Pour the gravy over the kofta just before serving.
