Sarson ka Saag

Winter special sarson ka saag with Makkai ki roti is a must in Punjabi families. I love its taste, so I had to make it. My dear friend Ritu gave a recipe for sarson ka saag. Check out this Classic healthy dish, which you can make easily in your home.If you get Bathua leaves add half a bunch of that as well.

Ingredients :

  • 2 bunches of sarson leaves (Mustard greens)
  • ½ bunch paalak (Spinach)
  • ½ bunch Methi
  • 3 – 4 green chillies chopped
  • 1 inch ginger grated
  • 4 tbsp oil
  • 3-4 garlic chopped
  • 1 inch ginger chopped
  • 2 onions chopped
  • 2 tomatoes chopped
  • Salt
  • 2 tbsp maize flour (makkai ka atta)
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • Tempering ingredients :
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • ¼ tsp hing
  • 2 dry red chilli

Directions :

  1. Wash and chop all the greens.Cook in a pressure cooker all the greens along with green chilli, ginger.
  2. After the greens are cooked, mash it nicely and grind it.
  3. In apan, heat oil and add garlic, ginger, onions, and tomatoes. Cook until mushy add salt then add green puree. Cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Add maize flour and cook on low flame for 10 minutes.
  5. Heat all tempering ingredients and pour over sarson ka saag.
  6. Garnish with butter.
