Sambar is made in everyone’s home. North or South Indian, everyone loves Sambar. And everyone has their own unique style of making it. Check out my version.

Ingredients:
- 1 cup toor dal
- 5-6 shallots
- 1 tomato chopped
- 4-5 drumsticks
- 1 cup yellow cucumber chopped
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- ½ tsp Asafoetida
- 3-4 garlic cloves
- 2-3 red chilli
- 1 tbsp tamarind paste
- Curry leaves
- 3 tbsp oil
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 ½ tsp chilli powder
- ½ tsp turmeric
- 1 tbsp sambar powder
- ½ cup chopped coriander
Directions:
- Soak toor dal for an hour and pressure cook till 3 whistles.Mash the cooked dal.
- In a kadai add oil,garlic, mustard, cumin, curry leaves ,red chilli, add all vegetables and cook for 5 minutes then add water and cook till soft.
- Add mashed dal, tamarind paste, sambar powder.
- Bring it to a boil and add coriander.
