Ingredients for rasam powder:
- 1 cup coriander seeds
- 7 red chili whole
- 2 tsp black pepper whole
- 2 tbsp cumin
- 2 tsp fenugreek seeds
- Lot of asafoetida
- ¼ cup Bengal gram
- ¼ cup black gram whole
- ¼ cup pigeon peas
- Ingredients for rasam:
- 2 tomatoes
- Salt
- 1 tsp Red chilli powder
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 2 tbsp homemade rasam powder
Tempering ingredients:
- 2 tsp mustard seeds
- Curry leaves
- 2 tbsp oil
Directions:
- Dry roast coriander seeds, red chili, black pepper, cumin, and fenugreek. Then, transfer to a grinder.
- Dry roast Bengal gram, whole black gram, and pigeon peas. Add them to the grinder and make a fine powder. Then, add asafoetida and mix well.
- To make rasam, puree two tomatoes and transfer to a pot. Add water, salt, red chili powder, turmeric, and rasam powder. Let it boil.
- In a separate pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds and curry leaves. Once the mustard seeds start popping, pour the mixture over the rasam.
- Serve hot with rice.
